Constipation

Constipation

A very common disease in modern day life, it’s derived mainly by bad hygienic-dietetic habits and alterations in your bowel movements (repressing the bowel movement itself, trying to do a bowel movement when your body does not need to, etc.). Constipation can appear even in childhood and it requires a close and specific evaluation to determine the cause and provide medical or, if needed, surgical treatment.

What to do?

  • Consult with your doctor, who’ll conduct a clinical history and a specific exploration looking for the cause of your constipation and to directly treat it with medication or, in some cases, surgery.
  • It’s very probable that your doctor will be aided with radiological, endoscopic (coloscopy) and manometric studies (mainly used in measuring the pressure of the rectum) for a complete  diagnosis and providing you with the best treatment.
